We’re a passionate bunch with high ambition – we collaborate, innovate, support each other, and leave egos at the door.
About the role:
The Independent Sales Controller is a senior leader within our Independent Network Sales team, reporting directly into the Head of Network Sales. This role is fully accountable for the strategic and commercial sales performance of the Independent business. You will lead, coach, and inspire a team of Regional Sales Managers to deliver measurable growth while also playing a key role in shaping the future sales strategy for the UK Independent market. With 28,000+ contacts in our existing database, and access to over 57,000 independent retailers and 115,000 independent hospitality sites across the UK, this is a highly visible role with direct impact on our ability to scale our network footprint.
What you’ll be doing:
- Strategic Leadership – Define and deliver the UK Independent Network sales strategy, aligning regional execution with national growth priorities and ensuring sustainable performance.
- Performance Ownership – Take full accountability for commercial outcomes in the region, including contract volume, quality, profitability, and pipeline health.
- Data & Insight Leadership – Own and present performance reporting, forecasts, and insights at senior leadership meetings, influencing future investment and strategic decisions.
- Player/Coach Leadership – Lead, inspire, and develop a team of Regional Sales Managers. Set clear objectives, monitor performance, and build capability across the team to deliver consistent results.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration – Partner closely with Marketing, Operations, and Customer Success teams to ensure a seamless customer experience and maximise lifetime value of our Independent partners.
- Gatekeeper of Standards – Ensure the highest levels of professionalism, compliance, and commercial rigor in all customer interactions and deal structures.
- Future Growth Planning – Shape the long-term market strategy, identifying new opportunities, and building scalable frameworks for expansion.
What we need from you:
We’re looking for a strategic, commercially minded sales leader who thrives in a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment. You’ll be equally comfortable in the details of deal-making and data analysis as you are in the boardroom influencing senior stakeholders.
We’d be particularly excited to hear from you if the below sounds like you:
- Proven track record of leading field sales managers.
- Strategic sales planning experience, able to translate business objectives into execution plans that deliver sustainable growth.
- Background in FMCG, Retail, Tech, or related industries, ideally within complex, multi-site sales environments.
- A hands-on leader – able to balance coaching, performance management, and individual contribution.
- Strong analytical capability, adept at interrogating CRM data, pipeline metrics, and performance reports to drive decision-making.
- Confident communicator who can own performance reporting at senior forums, challenging and influencing where needed.
- Expertise in CRM discipline and sales process management, ensuring data integrity and efficiency in forecasting.
- Resilient, curious, and commercially astute – able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
