About the role:

This versatile position blends professional shunting with important yard management and C3 Yard System responsibilities. You’ll carry out essential vehicle and trailer safety checks, ensure loads are securely positioned, and handle all relevant documentation accurately. Alongside shunting duties, you will manage yard operations, working closely with the Traffic Office and team members to maintain smooth and efficient workflows. Strong attention to safety, communication, and operational excellence are vital. 🗓️ Shift Pattern: 4on 4off

🕒 Hours: 06:00am - 18:00pm 

💰 Salary: £37,128.00 per annum

What you’ll be doing:

Conduct thorough vehicle and trailer safety inspections before each shift, ensuring full compliance with all relevant documentation and procedures.

Guarantee that all vehicle loads are safely secured and correctly positioned for optimal transport.

Accurately verify and accept load documentation and delivery paperwork with meticulous attention to detail.

Efficiently process returned goods, ensuring all paperwork is precise and up to date.

Maintain seamless and proactive communication with the Traffic Office and other team members.

Take responsibility as Yard Managers and C3 Yard System Operators, managing yard operations and system controls efficiently.

Keep the vehicle clean and well-maintained, operating all equipment safely and in accordance with established procedures.

Drive responsibly and safely, prioritizing the safety of yourself and other road users at all times.

Adhere strictly to all safe working practices to promote a secure working environment.

Take on additional reasonable tasks to support the delivery of exceptional service to our customers.

Expertly manage ratchet straps, corner protection, and load securing techniques.

What we need from you:

A full UK Category C+E driving licence.

At least 12 months’ experience driving Class 1 vehicles.

Proven experience with Terberg shunting operations.

A clean driving record with no more than 6 points and no previous disqualifications.

Strong understanding of drivers’ hours and Working Time Directive (WTD) regulations.

Ability to handle physical tasks as this role requires a reasonable level of fitness and stamina.

Capability and willingness to perform yard management and C3 Yard System operations.
