About the role:
InPost Newstrade is seeking a motivated Night Shift Manager to join our Wakefield team, playing a crucial role in delivering timely newspapers and magazines to over 1,400 retail customers across West Yorkshire.
You’ll manage day-to-day operations at our Distribution Centre, working closely with the Deputy Night Manager and Operations Manager to drive operational excellence. Leading a team of Packer/Drivers, you’ll coach, motivate, and ensure top performance against key KPIs through hands-on leadership and clear communication.
Your role includes championing continuous improvement, managing multiple priorities, and stepping in during peak times to support your team in meeting tight deadlines.

📅 Shift Pattern: Any 5 over 7 days
🕒 Hours: 00:00am - 08:30am
💰 Salary: £36,000 per annum
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead and inspire the team to consistently meet customer deadlines while driving enhanced productivity and operational excellence.
- Uphold and continuously improve rigorous quality standards to ensure outstanding performance.
- Set clear productivity targets and motivate the team to achieve and surpass them.
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive ‘handover reports’ to incoming Shift Managers, ensuring seamless transitions and sustained operational flow.
- Design and implement effective training programs for all staff and contractors, empowering them to perform their roles efficiently, effectively, and safely.
- Guarantee that every team member completes essential Health & Safety training, fostering a culture of safety and compliance.
- Oversee end-to-end warehouse functions and processes, optimizing workflows for maximum efficiency.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment that supports peak performance and employee well-being.
What we need from you:
- Minimum of 1 year’s relevant experience in a Distribution or Logistics environment.
- Proven track record of effective people management is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated success in driving and delivering expanding operational KPIs.
- Skilled in prioritizing daily tasks with a calm, composed approach under pressure.
- Strong, practical problem-solving abilities grounded in common sense.
- Proficient in computer literacy and comfortable with relevant software tools.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced settings, consistently meeting strict deadlines.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage effectively across all levels.
